Dr. Matthew Babcock is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Geriatric Medicine within the School of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. He is a human physiologist focused on mechanisms of hypertension in older adults. Matt earned his PhD in Applied Physiology from the University of Delaware in 2019. He worked in Dr. William Farquhar's laboratory where they studied the effects of high dietary salt intake on blood pressure reactivity to stress. Following his PhD, he joined Dr. Kerrie Moreau's laboratory at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus as a postdoctoral fellow studying the cardiovascular effects of low testosterone. Dr. Babcock's research studies are funded by NIH/NHLBI, NIH/NIA, and the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute.

Dr. Babcock is on the editorial board of Frontiers in Physiology and an ad hoc reviewer for a number of journals, including AJP-Regulatory, Integrative, and Comparative Physiology, Journal of Applied Physiology, Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, AJP-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, and others. He is a recipient of several award, including the Colorado NORC Outstanding Ph.D. Instructor/Fellow, APS Caroline tum Suden/Frances Hellebrandt Award for Meritorious Research, and University of Delaware Outstanding Graduate Student Award. Outside of the lab, Matt can be found trail running, fly fishing, or spending time with his family.
